Binding together, keeping familiar: in Qurʾān 106:1, Lisān explains, it means that Quraysh were kept bound to their two journeys so that they did not break off.

  • لِتُؤْلَفَ قُريش الرِّحْلَتَيْن فَتَتَّصِلَا وَلَا تَنْقَطِعا، فَاللَّامُ مُتَّصِلَةٌ بِالسُّورَةِ الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا، أَي أَهلكَ اللَّهُ أَصحابَ الفِيلِ لِتُؤْلَفَ قريشٌ رِحْلَتَيْها آمِنِين
