What is in it

  • The prophets’ names, then girls’ and boys’ names from the Qurʾān, and names given to either.
  • Each name in Arabic, copied from the Qurʾān’s text or the book that names it, never retyped.
  • A one-line meaning drawn from the classical dictionaries, and the verses where the name is found.
  • A marker on the few names that carry a scholarly note about giving them, so you can read it first.

Every name has its full entry on the site, with the meaning quoted from its source: names from the Qurʾān and the prophets’ names.

The first page of the printable list: the title, a note on reading it, and the first prophets’ names in Arabic and English with their verses.
